How to pay your pharmacist bills
A pharmacist is one of the hardest-working workers in a pharmacy, but you might not be able to find the time to pay their bills.
That’s why it’s so important to have an affordable pharmacy plan, says Pharmacy Alliance of North America’s Sharon DeBruin.
“The goal is to keep people in the pharmacy, provide them with access to the products they need,” she says.
But not everyone has access to an affordable pharmacist plan.
So what are the options for those who do not have access to a pharmacy?
Here are three of our top tips to help you get your finances in order and make sure you have enough money for your medication.1.
Make sure your pharmacy is coveredYou can check your local pharmacy’s website to find out if your pharmacy has pharmacy coverage, and if it does, it’s essential.
The Pharmacy Act of 2016 prohibits pharmacies from charging patients more than the government considers reasonable, or that would not increase the cost of drugs.
“Pharmacy companies and pharmacies can be sued if they’re mischarging their patients, and in many cases that could lead to legal action, but the government is not liable,” says DeBrugin.
So, how do you know if your local pharmacist has coverage?
“If they have the option to purchase coverage through their insurance company, it should be on the insurance company’s website,” she recommends.2.
Have a prescription listA pharmacist can help you find a prescription and get it filled.
If you’re struggling to make ends meet, having a list of medications you’ll be able use will help you keep track of your medications.
If your pharmacy doesn’t have a list, ask for one from the pharmacist.
“Make sure you ask for it when you ask a question and that you fill it out,” says Dr. Laura Zuber, a clinical pharmacist and assistant clinical professor at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
“It can help a pharmacist determine if they have what you need and when to fill it.3.
Pay attention to what you pay forIt can be difficult to make sure your prescription is covered.
You can check with your insurance company or find out how much you’re paying for your prescriptions online.”
If you’re having trouble paying for a medication, it could be because of a combination of factors.
You could be paying too much for a drug you don’t need, or you’re overpaying,” says Zuber.”
You don’t have to do everything yourself. “
If you can get insurance, you can make sure that your prescriptions are covered by your insurance.
You don’t have to do everything yourself.
You might need a pharmacy plan.”
The best thing you can ask your pharmist about is your drug’s brand name, the price you’re asking for, and the medication you’re using.
“There are some great websites that can help determine how much of your prescription you’re spending,” says Zerber.
“I think it’s a great idea to get a list from the pharmacy and then write a prescription for that drug,” she adds.
“Then, write it down and take it with you when you visit your pharmacy.”
The last thing you want is to miss out on a dose.
But if you have trouble paying your prescription, you might consider purchasing a prepaid prescription card that will help save you money on your next visit.
The pharmacy will then send you a code, and you can use the card to pay for the drug online or at your local drug store.
